My course was called "The Art of Washi Paper in Japanese Rare Books" and it immediately became interesting to me to learn more about this and I was not mistaken .. This wonderful course was taught Professor Takahiro Sasaki of the Keio Institute of Oriental Classics and Dr. Makiko Shiroto, a Keio University Alumna and a member of Society for Study of Washi Culture, these are wonderful people who were able to clearly and accurately and very excitingly convey information about their business , they were able to interest a large number of people.
In the first week, we learned about washi, the traditional paper used in rare Japanese books, its different types, how it was produced and its history. There were many lessons that covered in detail the types, types and of course history. It was very entertaining. Also, people communicate in the comments and discuss this topic and the teachers are happy to answer your questions.
In the second week, we will learn in the True Kyoji Workshop the methods of making books using washi and methods of restoration based on the power of washi. We will also reveal the secrets of washi power. We go through all the lessons gradually and see on the video attached to the lessons how, where and from what paper is made. This is a very accurate and painstaking work that takes a lot of time and you have to be a very patient person and love your job.
In the third week , we will learn about the different decorating techniques that traditional Japanese bookmakers have used to decorate paper and create more eye-catching books. For example, for me there was a huge amount of new information. I did not know that book covers are made not only from paper. If you are wondering what else ... then you will definitely complete this course before 3 weeks.
I learned a lot of new things and I am very happy about it. I promise that you will enjoy this course and even if you don’t has time to do something, they will definitely help you. Rest assured, I will also attach some screenshots of my feedback to the lessons in this course. I left feedback for each lesson, but I cannot reinforce all of them) God save this is the course
