Good evening, I decided to tell you about...

👀 The Subjunctive Mood 👀 -

mood of a verb used to express a subjective attitude towards action.

In English, two forms of the subjunctive mood are distinguished from the verb:

1. Subjunctive mood I is used to express a desired or necessary action
I insist he be here.
2. Subjunctive mood II - the action is thought of as unreal or impracticable I wish he were here.

The subjunctive form is formed in the same way as the past tense form (Past Indefinite and Past Perfect). Only from the verb to be, the subjunctive mood is formed separately. The were form is usually used in both the singular and plural.

The subjunctive form can be either perfect subjunctive or non-perfect subjunctive.

!The imperfect form is used when the action expressed by the subjunctive is at the same time to another action or situation or is future in relation to it. I wish he were here now. Don't speaks as if he knew his lesson. Not spoke as if he knew his lesson.

!!!The Subjunctive Mood is used mainly in the conditional conditional after the conjunctions if, in case, unless and denotes an unreal condition necessary for performing an action expressed by the predicate verb of the main part of a complex sentence. If she gave him the book, he would read it.

The Subjunctive Mood is also used in the following cases:
a) after the words It's time, It's high time: It's time (It's high time) you visited your sick friend.
The subjunctive verb after It's time, It's high time is always in a non-perfect form. b) after the words I wish, I wished: I wish you visited your friend more often. c) after the words as if, as though: Was not still a child but he behaved as if he were grown up
